A Message from Dr. A. Bradley, Principal
Dear Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Community,
Welcome to Year Number 9 at our wonderful school! I am so excited to begin this new school year with all of you—our amazing students, dedicated staff, and supportive families.
Each year we focus on the well-being of all in our learning community, and that will remain a constant. This year academically we will focus squarely on data and student growth. We have set an ambitious but achievable goal: to eliminate all “Below Basic” levels and ensure every single student maintains a 90% attendance rate or better. Our PSSA results from last year showed a promising 5% increase in math progress, but we also saw a 2% decline in reading, which tells us exactly where we need to concentrate our efforts.
Achieving these goals will require a collective commitment from every member of our community. It begins with me, your principal, and our entire administrative team. We are committed to making this the best year yet by providing more trips, more enriching experiences for our scholars, and more access to the academic rigor they need to thrive.
I also want to acknowledge the exciting changes happening within our building. Renovations are underway to bring us brand new classrooms, new floors, windows, and furniture as the school year progresses. While there may be some temporary inconveniences, please know that these improvements are designed to create a beautiful, modern, and inspiring learning environment for all.
Thank you in advance for your partnership. Your support is invaluable, and I truly believe that by working together, we can make Bethune the best place to be. This is a school where students will want to learn and adults will want to work, because we, as a community, will support one another in every way possible.

Dear Bethune Bears,
I am so excited to begin my eleventh year as your assistant principal. I hope that your summer was relaxing and rejuvenating. The beginning of a new school year reminds us that the future holds infinite possibilities. I look forward to continuing our focus this year on teaching and learning so that our scholars graduate college and career ready. I am here to serve this community of learners and to help support ALL scholars in finding their voice in order to appropriately advocate for themselves and others.
