A Message from Ms. Howard, Interim Principal
Dear Bethune Students, Families, and Community,
It is truly an honor to serve as the Interim Principal of Mary McLeod Bethune School. In the short time I have been a part of this community, I have already experienced the pride, care, and deep sense of connection that make Bethune such a special place for students and families.
I bring with me over 30 years in education, having served in roles that have allowed me to support students, partner with families, and help cultivate learning environments where young people can grow not only academically, but personally. I believe that education is most powerful when students feel safe, supported, and confident in who they are becoming.
Mary McLeod Bethune’s words, “Enter to Learn, Depart to Serve,” remind us that our responsibility extends beyond the classroom. Each day, we have the opportunity to help students discover their voice, strengthen their character, and prepare to contribute meaningfully to the world around them.
As Interim Principal, my commitment is to work alongside our staff and families to continue building a school community where every student feels a sense of belonging, purpose, and possibility—where every Bear is seen, valued, and empowered to thrive.
Thank you for welcoming me into the Bethune community. I look forward to continuing this work together in service of our students.
Warm regards,
Sheree Howard
Interim Principal
Mary McLeod Bethune School
Enter to Learn, Depart to Serve.
